The Letter ::

This is the painting I just finished called 'the letter'. The letter she is holding is a memory, a remembering of something long forgotten that she needed to reread. She is in a her family home surrounded, even slightly inundated, by floral wallpaper. It's kind of that Laura Ashley/William Morris oppressive thing that is so dominant in the English home. She looks to the right and is in the world of her letter. The Tasmanian red robin represents freedom, or even herself, and is like an idea that has come to her. She has a slightly cheeky look on her face that says all is well and about to get better. I really like what's happening in this picture and feel really good about painting something a bit more about the feminine and a bit more spirited. I like her confidence.
